About

Welcome

The Marion First United Methodist Church has proclaimed the gospel of Jesus in word and action for over a century and a half. That ministry continues in the digital age. Take a spin around the website to see a bit more regarding what we are all about.

What Can I Expect When I Attend Worship at Your Church?

Before and after the service we welcome you to help yourself to coffee, juice, and donuts found downstairs in the Fellowship Hall dining room.

During the service, we Teach the Big Idea from the Bible in ways that help us live out our mission statement, “The mission of the Church is to make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the World.” We Give to God with 10 to 15 minutes of singing songs praising God and giving our offerings. Communion is taken on the first Sunday of every month. Finally, we use Prayer to draw our focus to God; in preparation for the teaching; for congregational needs, such as physical, emotional, or spiritual healing; and to send us into the world.

Sunday School offers many different opportunities to learn more about the Bible, Jesus, Christianity, and being a United Methodist. Classes are offered beginning at age 2, for everyone from new believers to those who have made Christ the center of their lives. Classes run from 9:45 until 10:45 on Sundays.

Kid’s View is a program for kids ages 3 years to 3rd grade, during our 11:00 worship service on Sunday mornings. After we finish singing during the service, kids are invited to go to a special service with songs, games, puppets and more to help them engage in the same Big Idea as the adults, in their own way.

Nursery facilities are available for parents with newborns through kindergarten, staffed by trained members of our Caring Corner Christian Daycare from 7:30 AM until 10 minutes after our last service. Further, the Family Room, just off our main entry, has the service on TV, and “slider” chairs for you, as you comfort your child.

Parking in church provided spaces is at a premium. On Sunday mornings, parking is provided on Marion city streets or by finding an empty spot at one of the local businesses closed on Sundays.

Wednesday Nights we invite you to join us for a meal together. Our 5:45 PM PowerHouse meal is a simple meal that the whole family can share. Afterwards, stick around for children’s activities, choir practice, adult classes, or our fired up youth ministry, 4:12!
