Marion Methodist was and is in the process of a God pleasing and physically safe reemergence as a worshipping and learning congregation. The Reemergence Plan of Marion Methodist includes being mindful of the trends of the COVID-19 virus in our area for the safety of our children, youth and adults. Our physical reemergence has been wonderful, Christ praising and physically safe. You as a congregation have performed marvelously following all the guidelines set out and accomplishing the hoped-for outcomes.
We cannot however control the world at large or this demon of a virus. Sadly, the entire state of Iowa is in the red zone which is alarming and has persisted for many days.
While it is true that the vast majority of persons who contract COVID-19 recover in a relatively short period of time, it is also a known killer, claiming nearly a quarter of a million lives in the United States as of today.
Therefore, with disappointment, and after deliberating with the staff leadership of the church, it is my responsibility to announce to you that beginning today, Monday, November 9th all in-person activities held in our facilities will be suspended through, at the earliest, Sunday, November 22nd.
This is of course a setback to our ministries to youth and children that were gaining tremendous momentum and to those of us that have been able to worship physically together. We are praying that you receive this as part of our reemergence plan of protecting each other in Christian love knowing that nothing – nothing - can stop the church of Jesus.
